The Kawarthas & Haliburton Highlands
The Kawartha’s and Haliburton region of Ontario is one of our favourite parts of Canada. Sprinkled with lakes, pretty provincial towns and plentiful cottages – this region is really a home from home.
Lakefield is a pretty town on the shores of Lake Katchewanooka and the hub for cottagers on Stoney and Clear Lakes. A summer weekend will see the town buzzing with visitors, browsing the antique and craft stores and stopping for an ice cream at Hamblins Family Restaurant on the bridge.
Peterborough, a local university town, is home to the informative Canadian Canoe Museum whose mission is to preserve and share the culture and history of the canoe. Peterborough is also home to the highest hydraulic lift locks in the world which attracts visitors from all over.
