Bruce Peninsular, Georgian Bay & Lake Huron
This part of Ontario that includes the Bruce Peninsular, Georgian Bay & Lake Huron is spectacular. It also has Manitoulin Island and thousands of islands dotted along the shoreline, many cottages and campsites.
Georgian Bay itself is nearly the same size as Lake Ontario. The eastern portion forms part of the Canadian Shield, which is granite rock that was revealed by glaciers, around 11,000 years previously.
At the northern tip of the Peninsula along Georgian Bay is the town of Tobermory where you can take a boat tour on the deep, cool waters of Georgian Bay. Located just off the coast of Tobermory is Fathom Five – Canada’s first National Marine Conservation Area with some of the most pristine water in Canada. The park preserves 22 shipwrecks which can be seen during a glass bottom boat tour
