What Triptoes Really Likes:
Siwash is a private hideaway in British Columbia’s cowboy country. It is an iconic, luxury wilderness ranch, owned and run by a Canadian family. Ranking among North America’s finest “dude” (guest) and working ranches, the place is legendary for horseback riding, authentic experiences amid nature, organic pasture-to-plate cuisine, and lavish safari-inspired tents. Siwash Lake Ranch offers an intimate family holiday all within a wild, peaceful paradise.
Authentic accommodations pair luxury amidst nature in lavish, safari-inspired tents and frontier style log cabin suites, while five star dining highlights organic food grown on the ranch and foraged from the wilds nearby. Guests explore ‘cowboy country’s rugged heartland on horseback as part of the Siwash signature equine experience, ‘Synergy with Horses’, which focuses on the magical bond between horses and humans for beginners and experts alike. Beyond riding, the all-inclusive Siwash offers fly fishing, target shooting, archery, wilderness survival, hiking, and mountain biking adventures. Those seeking more soothing wilderness pursuits kayak on shimmering Siwash Lake, perform yoga in the great outdoors, tour the ranch gardens, or luxuriate at a canvas-clad spa in the forest. Typical children's activities at the ranch may include: horse care; animal tracking; wilderness survival training and shelter building; orienteering; arts and crafts; scavenger hunts; nature walks; fort building; and outdoor games, depending on the weather, group dynamics, and the ages of the children involved. If arranged prior to arrival, children can enjoy the Ranch’s Free-range Kids club (during the months of July and August). Children are entertained and cared for while parents are out riding the range or just catching up on some much needed rest and relaxation. Older children can play unsupervised, free to roam, quite simply enjoying life on a ranch. The Siwash Lake Ranch is a “dude” (guest) ranch which is in complete harmony with the surrounding wilderness and which promotes freedom of spirit, personal growth, as well as an appreciation for family, for nature and the finer things in life. Siwash is a wonderful and very special addition to an exhilarating wilderness and adventure holiday in Canada for families who love to be in the natural beauty of the great outdoors.

Crater Lake One of nature's many wonders is right in our backyard, an easy 10-15 minute drive from the ranch. The breath-taking scenery of Crater Lake and its accompanying waterfalls is well worth the visit and is a wonderful excursion. Local Rodeo Once a month throughout the warm season, there's a local rodeo held at one of the nearby small towns. It's a chance to watch some great horsemanship, and take in some regional colour and genuine cowboy culture.

At Siwash, you have a choice of eating venues. Breakfasts and dinners are generally served in the ranch house dining room. During the summer, Siwash staff sometimes do a casual cook-out on the ridge overlooking Siwash Lake, where chef barbecues specially marinated ranch beef and pork atop a camp fire grill. You can also enjoy alfresco dining at Siwash Lake Ranch in the meadow or on a private balcony. Wherever you dine at Siwash, the setting will be distinctive, and the food and wine extraordinary; well beyond what one would expect whilst dining in the wilderness. Eating food that is grown on site or foraged from the nearby meadows and forest is at the heart of every Siwash menu. Respect for the sustainable production, harvest and preparation of these ingredients is always at the forefront of chef’s mind.
After a full day of adventure in the great outdoors and a leisurely dinner in the fine dining room, many guests find themselves connecting and sharing stories around a crackling fire in the great room of the ranch. While the adults are relaxing and communing together over after-dinner drinks, board games are a big hit with children, and often teens and young 'uns will all join in together for a rousing game of Pictionary or a wild, international rules "anything goes" game of rugby in the home meadow. Planned activities revolve around a full one week's stay at the ranch. The following may be offered in the evenings after dinner depending on weather and guest dynamics:
- Cowboy 101 - Learn to throw a lariat
- Texas Hold'em Poker - family-friendly version
- Fly-tying - for the keen fishermen and women
- Country Crafts - make a ranch keepsake
- Camp fire - star gazing and marshmallow roasting, and if we're lucky, the Northern Lights!
- Outdoor Games - anyone for meadow rugby? Badminton? Or how about ranch-style bocce ball (a rustic version of lawn bowling, played in the home meadow - great fun for players of all ages) There's also plenty of grassy field space for family-style baseball and soccer.
