The beautiful waterfront and fabulous views are not the only features that make this Kawartha cottage an outstanding choice for your family holiday in Canada. The spacious and extremely comfortable accommodation will welcome your family, and with the attractive village of Lakefield only 15 minutes drive away, it's a great location too.
White Lake (also known as Dummer Lake) is in a quiet and tranquil area surrounded by woodland and delightful places to explore. Reesey’s Retreat faces west across the lake and has a lawned area leading to the waterfront where the entry is shallow with a firm gravel/rock base – great for small kids. The dock stretches out into the lake and it’s easy to imagine sitting out watching the sunset or fishing on a quiet summer’s morning. Tucked away off the cottage road, the property is approached by a short driveway with generous parking space at the road end. Steps lead up to the front door which opens into a small hallway and then into a wide open plan area overlooking the deck and water. Stretched across the front of the cottage is the fully-equipped kitchen with large breakfast bar/food preparation area, dining table and to the other end, comfortable couches for curling up with a good book. It’s a light and airy space with huge windows that have screens for shading out the afternoon sun. Doors open onto a large deck with plenty of patio furniture and a propane barbecue. There is a loft above the living area that has two floor mattresses under the pitched roof – a cute space that kids will love to sleep in. Off a hallway to the rear of the kitchen/living area are three pretty bedrooms with a four piece bathroom. The lower floor of the cottage has a warm and cosy family room with a stone clad propane fireplace and wall mounted flat screen TV as well as an area with a large table for enjoying evenings of cards and board games. A double bedroom, full bathroom and laundry room complete the spacious accommodation. Keeping in touch with the outside world is taken care of with high-speed internet and a range of books, toys, games and DVDs will keep everyone happy should the weather not co-operate. The local area abounds with places to see and things to do. Take a look at the Warsaw Caves and Conservation Area; drive out to Petroglyphs Provincial Park, or wander around the arts and crafts stores in Lakefield. Don’t miss the Peterborough Lift Lock boat tour – it’s great fun.
