Adventure Summary:

Your 2-hour Family White Water Rafting adventure starts at the Madawaska Kanu Centre, where you check in with the office before meeting your guides and collecting your helmet and lifejacket.

From here jump on the bus for a short shuttle to the river put-in, get settled into the rafts and your guide gives an on-water briefing that teaches you how to hold on and what to expect heading downstream to the first rapid of the day.

Trip Description

You will get wet as the raft descends through the 5km section of whitewater through whitewater class I-II rapids.

During the trip everyone stops at the infamous “Claudia’s Roller”, where kids love to jump off a big rock into the current and body surf through waves. The trip finishes with tube jumping and diving as you float across Mud Bay on the way to the takeout.

The Madawaka River Trips are a great introduction to a whitewater rafting experience. They are sutiable for all ages, even two year olds are welcome!

  • Five fun-filled kms of beautiful scenery and tumbling white water in the Algonquin Park area.
  • Skilled guides steer the raft from the stern and you hold on for the rapids!
  • Stop half-way for an optional body-surf. Ability to swim is not mandatory as lifejackets & helmets are worn at all times.
  • Dress to get wet!  Please wear swim suits or shorts and a non-cotton T-shirt, and shoes: a shoe that stays on your feet when swimming ( flip flops are not allowed)

Where is it?

Madawaska River Raft trips take place on the middle Madawaska River, just south of Barry’s Bay, near Algonquin Park.

Stuff for Kids

The rafting trips take families with children from aged 2. All life jackets are provided and you do not have to be a swimmer to take part.
